As of 2017 all 50 states have adopted laws and regulations on the safety and use AEDs.
Many states have considered how to encourage broader availability of AEDs, including provisions to encourage or require ownership in certain businesses and proper training on the use of AEDs. Currently 42 states require that maintenance and testing be done and meet manufacturers’ standards. Others create a registry of defibrillator locations for use by EMS or first repsonders.
In Indiana the relevant code is IC16-31-6.5
